Asheville Homeowner Landscaper Review On Google
Drew Emanuele, an Asheville homeowner, writes on Google Reviews, “From the moment I met Ryan I took an immediate liking to him. He came to my home and we talked about removing my stone porch, which was shifting and about to fall. I had actually only wanted to have the wall rebuilt. Ryan suggested taking the whole porch off, building a deck with sitting room under it and putting a door in so I could access my basement from outside, which I have never been able to do in the 33 years that I have lived here. He also suggested building a half wall under the edge of the deck so the new work would blend well with the existing stonework foundation and offer a little privacy for the seating area under the deck. He quoted me what I consider a more than fair price having two other contractors wanting to charge me $10,000 more just to fix the leaning wall. Due to all the rain that we had late May and early June, it was hit and miss on whether work could progress or not, however, they did finish on time with everything I had hoped for and more. I have to give kudos to his work crews as well. They are all hard workers, friendly and polite and were fast and professional. I am very pleased with the job well done. It looks beautiful, is new and strong, added more value to my home than the work cost and will last longer than I will. Thank you Ryan and crew. I'll miss seeing you here. I would be happy to recommend you to anyone that asks. It turned out better than I had hoped for. You did all that we agreed to on the contract and more. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

The Homeowner’s Vision Comes To Life
Greenscapes Landscaping & Retaining Walls has been bringing the homeowner’s vision to life for almost 20 years and opened a new office on Tunnel Road in 2019.
The company owner, Ryan Endres, says, “Like any owner in the landscaping business, I look forward to the spring. Not only for the amount of work it brings in but also because I can then do what I love to do best. That’s using my 19-years of experience in the field to help my customers; yards look amazing and stabilize any unsteady soil areas they have by building them custom retaining walls. Just before Spring, we always like to remind our customers to get their required lawn maintenance and retaining wall tasks scheduled. That way it will help them beat the anticipated spring rush for our services.”
Momma Bear & Cubs in Asheville
We met a momma bear and her cubs while doing a landscaping estimate for an Asheville homeowner. They are so sweet! But, I highly recommend you don’t come in contact with bears like this and give them the space they need.
Retaining Walls in Asheville
We see an alarming amount of homeowners with premature failing retaining walls that were built only a few years before we visited the property. In fact, failing retaining walls are 60% of our business projects.
In this line of work, it's easy to take shortcuts that won't show up for years down the line. Many of the contractors building these walls only know how to make them look good to the untrained eye.
Repairing retaining walls is 60% of our business. It might cost more, but this is an investment in your property. You wouldn't go to a general doctor if you needed brain surgery, so you shouldn't go to just any landscaper when you need a retaining wall builder. It will cost you more to build the wall over in a few years than it would by having it built right the first time. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.
Decks add value to your home and life. Greenscapes has over two decades of experience in building decks, fences, porches and other outdoor structures. We can help you extend your home and living space into your backyard so you can better enjoy the Asheville mountains with your family and friends.
Patio & Seating Areas
Patios are also another home addition that adds great value, but there are some differences in decks vs patios. We have written an article to help you decide the between the 7 differences in patios vs decks to choose which would be right for your home.
Landscaping Designer & Installation in Asheville, NC
Landscape design means different things to different people. Some think sod and plants while others also consider hardscaping.
There are so many factors that go into pricing a customer's landscape design and installation. Do you just need sod, plants and bushes installed? Do you remove it? Or maybe you want large trees installed on your new property with an outdoor kitchen and backyard deck?
Also, what are the measurements and characteristics of the yard? If you live in an area where there are lots of slops or drainage issues, it’s going to cost more to prep the work site.
Greenscapes Landscaping & Retaining Walls will collaborate with you to design a breathtaking landscape that will compliment your home and provide long-term value to your property. If you are ready to take the next step, you can call us or fill out a form, and we will give you a call back.
Waterfalls & Ponds
Waterscapes create a sense of serenity and visual magnificence that re-connects us to nature. The relaxing sounds of water not only provide health benefits, but increase the value of your property.

More About Greenscapes Landscaping & Retaining Walls of Asheville
Ryan Endres, owner and Buncombe County landscaper, went on to talk about how the company started. He says that it’s something he has been passionate about ever since he got a whooping at a young age for making his first retaining wall out of the stones in his Grandmother’s patio. Since then, he has added many years of training and experience into the mix and that has led to his reputation of being one of the best retaining wall designers and builders in Asheville and the surrounding areas. He designs all of his retaining wall projects from scratch and keeps looks and functionality at the forefront the entire time he is doing his retaining wall designs. In addition to retaining walls, Ryan’s attention to detail and expertise has also created a huge demand for the company’s landscape design, deck building, and waterscape installation services.
Ryan adds, “My passion comes from turning a problem into something amazingly beautiful. I love seeing not only the relief from my customer’s eyes when I’ve fixed their problem, but the joy they have towards the final result. Priceless!”
“Transformed Our Property” Customer Reviews
"All around tremendous experience from beginning to end. It seems my review is going to sound similar to many others and that is b/c Ryan and his crew continue to deliver consistent quality work.
First and foremost, my wife and I were searching for someone to build a suitable retaining wall for our cabin. We had other projects in mind such as deck work and landscaping, but those weren't a priority. So, I met with several contractors to get estimates and Ryan was the clear go-to for the job; without question. He and I hit it off right from the start, he listened to what I had to say, and what we were interested in doing. He made suggestions based off of his years of experience and his personal vision for the property. No one else did that; no one else that I met with added their personal role/touch to the property as though it were their home. To everyone else it was just another job. So, we talked it out and came to a handshake agreement (w/eventual contract) to complete the full spectrum of projects for an incredible price. He was below everyone else and all they were going to do was the retaining wall, not the additional deck work and landscaping that Ryan did!!!
Throughout the job, he was responsive in every degree. Whenever we had questions, comments, or concerns he was always available and receptive. He transformed our property into a completely different home and getaway. We cannot be any happier or pleased with the outcome of his work and the craftsmanship of his crew. They didn't leave behind a mess or trash. The property is in better condition than when they started. Bottom line, he continued to go above and beyond what was expected and he always had our best interest in mind.
I will close with one final comment. Ryan is a BIG supporter of our nation's military. He understands the sacrifice being made by service members and he personally guaranteed that my wife and I would be absolutely blown away by the final product....and he was right; we are."
Thank you Ryan and thank you to your crew

Frequently Asked Contractor Questions
How much do your contractor services cost?
Understandably, this is one of the first questions many clients ask, but it is nearly impossible to answer over the phone. There are many variables that go into providing a construction estimate. We need to assess the site and answer some of the following questions: What type of installation will we be doing? How much prep work will be involved? Do we foresee any problems that may occur? What type of materials will be used? What will it take to get equipment and materials to the site? How long will it take to complete the project?
Do I need to prepare before the construction begins?
We may ask you to prepare the site where our team will work before the contract start date. This may include removing furniture, personal items, or vehicles from the driveway.
What is the payment schedule?
The payment schedule will depend greatly on the scope of the project, materials, and equipment needed. Generally, smaller jobs require 1/2 down and 1/2 when the project is complete, while bigger jobs require 1/3 down and payment installments when phases are completed. Your payment schedule will be located on your contract.
How long does it take to complete contractor projects?
The time it takes to design and install a project depends on the size and scope, ordering and delivery times for materials and plants, dry weather if we are laying hardscapes, and any unexpected setbacks during installation. We cannot provide you with exact dates due to circumstances outside our control (mostly mother nature), however, we do provide you with an estimated start and completion dates in our written proposal.
